STC Memory Lane cluster decided that they wanted a student designed cover for this year's yearbook. The competition was open to all students. Three finalists were selected and this is the winning cover! The cluster was open to 7th and 8th graders; members designed the individual pages for each grade level. All 8th graders received complimentary copies of the yearbook.
The sorting into clusters this time was puzzle assembly. Once the puzzle was complete, then the names of those in that cluster were revealed. Students assembled an arbitrary puzzle and circulated among the puzzles until they found their name. The clusters for this fifth year of Brain Gain! are: Auto Bots - coding ozobots STC Memory Lane - creating school yearbook Lights! Camera! Action! - filming and editing video stories Crafty Card Engineers - designing greeting cards A Matter of Opinion - debating various topics Field Day Design Team - designing annual field day
Brain Gain began using a "reveal" as the introduction to the clusters. Each student had a slip of paper with their name. The end of the slip was folded over several times and taped. Underneath was the name of their cluster. After the cluster facilitators were all introduced. we counted down from 10 to "reveal" at 0.
