After reading the first several chapters for Peter Pan the students were given this challenge: The lost boys are so homesick that Peter has decided to build a boat to sail them home. The task was to design and then build a boat using a specific collection of materials. The boat needed to both float and move across water. The bonus, which all three teams achieved, was for the boat to take on a load, represented by pennies, added one at a time, and remain afloat. The teams then discussed how they would have changed what they did if they were to repeat the challenge. | |
